Amarok and Xine can't play MP3, but VLC and MPlayer can

Well, in Amarok2 and KDE4, Phonon uses Xine.  And the only Amarok1
engine package that is packaged for Debian or Ubuntu is the Xine
engine.  Is the GStreamer engine still...supported?
