Well I'm not sure about other distros, but I package transKode for
Mandriva and it's installable via our package management system...
Perhaps encouraging distros to package it rather than trying to create a
"universal binary" would be a better idea?

FWIW, I originally packaged it as I was using a x86_64 machine and the
one available for download was i586.... I figured it was easier just to
package it up ;)
