The replaygain script works with both album and track gain.
You select which mode (track or album) you want to use with the context menu 
in the playlist.
If your file sounds too loud in album mode just use track mode.
II guess the file hasn't been ripped right. You could use an audio editor 
(audacity for example) to correct it.
