Serge Harrison sent a message using the contact form at

Well, I've been using amarok for a little while now since my recent
(permanent this time) switch to linux. and in with the latest version i'm
running now has much improved over some older version. for example, it
doesnt freeze anymore with mtp devices, though that may be related to
updates to libmtp as well so i could be wrong.

but anyway, i love the software, and noticed the team is planning a new
version soon enough i believe? now i am a microsoft guy, and work zune
support, and i definitely know what a bad piece of software is, cough,
zune. but one thing the zune software and media player prior do allow, is
an easy way to have files transcoded and shrunk to specific format or
bitrate when transferring to a device. i haven't found that functionality
in amarok, show me the light if i'm wrong.

i do like the ability to hide tabs i don't want, whether context, devices,
magnatune. so cheers on that. although i think the means of transferring
could be a little more user friendly, i dont really have any complaints on
it, it works, and i noticed for my zen that it does embed the album art in
the files when it transfers, or somewhere other than my pictures folders at
least. i do love how you guys have the software setup to organize files,
never have a seen a program that powerful when it comes to sorting files
and renaming, i used to spend hours doing that manually in windows. and the
idea of guessing tags from file names, you guys are brilliant.

i guess really the main things i'm looking for as far as feature requests
would be as mentioned above a more flexible ability to transcode when
transferring to devices.

the other thing would be the ability to convert files from within the
software, like creatives mediasource software, except not as bulky.

the other thing, i haven't really found anything that gives an streamlined
ability to put videos on mtp devices supporting it, not just in amarok, but
in general. i was wondering if any kind of video capability was planned for
amarok, or if the idea was to keep it music only, which i can understand,
because it does music beautifully.

aside from that, keep up the good work, i can't wait to see the next
version
