Help understanding podcast icons

do you know whether this also pertains to the icons beside individual
episodes? so for instance if the individual episode has a red circle,
the episode hasn't been downloaded/listened to yet? And if the circle
is missing, then you have downloaded/listened to it? for me the
"downloaded" state is the relevant one, as i'm collecting a bunch of
podcasts for a veeerrrry long trip in the car with my kids.
