amarok on xfce

I am trying to run amarok 1.4 on xfce (xubuntu feisty).  The package
dependencies do not seem to be handled very well.  It seems to have no
id3 tag support, "builds" a collection, but seems to get stuck on
scanning it.  No progress bar, nothing.  Plays fine.  Very small
collection (<100 files, mostly mp3, some m4a).  When manually loading
from the file system tab, id3 tags are not displayed, only the file
name.

What package(s) am I missing.
