Thinking of switching to amarok. Few questions...

Yes, a MySQL database can be shared across different computers, even.
I believe ratings, etc are shared. There's a proposed feature to have
different collections, so you could say have a "Mom's collection" and
a "Dad's collection" and not have the two overlap ratings and such.
I'd love to see that feature come in soon, but it'll be a while before
2.0 comes out. A few months at least.

Yes, it does. It's called the player window.
I'm glad you're considering Amarok. I've used it for quite a while
now, and I'm continually impressed by it. In fact, I just found out a
keyboard shortcut I hadn't known about that allows me to pretty much
never have to touch the mouse if I don't want to!
Cached lyrics and suggested songs via last.fm are my favorite
features, though. It's great to have both of these features available
without an internet connection. And it works flawlessly with my ipod
nano too. Hope you enjoy Amarok if you choose to switch to linux!
