MP3 support issue

I don't know if this is a problem wiht Amarok or with Kubuntu Feisty,
but when I try to play MP3 files I get an error that MP3 support is not
installed. I can play them with xmms, so I think I have an MP3 decoder
installed on my system. But Amarok throws up the error, and then
essentially freezes. Any ideas?
