The problem seems to be when reading files from the device rather than when
writing, so the riocp tool probably isn't much help.
There aren't many tools included with libkarma, certainly nothing such as the
mtp-files/mtp-detect tool. The only one I can think of is the lkarmafs
project which creates a fuse-based filesystem for the karma.
That said, I *think* that the crash might happen when reading a playlist. (and
lkarmafs doesn't show playlists, AFAIK). So you *could* try deleting
playlists from the device (assuming you have some and that you don't want
them !).

FWIW, I've tried my Karma with Amarok (SVN) using libkarma 0.0.5 and 0.0.6
with omfs 0.6.1 and 0.7.2 and it works ok.
