I agree with your take. Maybe the lists made more sense when they were actively
maintained, but I believe their actual content hasn't been touched since at least 2013,
and much (most?) of the development since has been done by people not on those lists.

Nowadays information about contributors in projects are more readily available than
before, thanks to all the nice git web interfaces etc.; [at least technically proficient]
people might be more likely to check out project's git repository to get to know the
people behind the project, than an extra tab in program's about dialog.

I merged the changes that removed the extra technical dependencies from the 'extended
about dialog'. The author/contributor lists in their basic form aren't technically
problematic, however, so maybe they will stay along with the donors tab for now, and
maybe they'll be compacted/cleaned up more for Amarok 4, then.
