I find it unjust. Previous Authors should have a more prominent status
than previous Contributors, who might have simply been patch-and-go types.

I suggest that we have a Former Authors list, just as we have a Former
Contributors list.

Also, author retiring should be proposed on the appropriate list with
the same comment period as author additions.
