Heya,

> Maybe a good project for our university students
> from Germany

as I'm one of those 3 Students from Austria (NOT Germany ;-) ) I thought
I'll give all of you a small Update.

We (Christian, Felix & me [Stefan]) are 98 % sure that we can do our
University Project next Semester for Amarok.
We are 3 People in our Team and the Course has 6 ECTS, which should
amount to a total of 150 hours of Work per Person should be spent on the
Planning & Implementing of some new Features into Amarok (excluding some
administrative Overhead for Project Managment :) ).

As the Semester starts in around 1 Week, I'm starting with the planning
and decided that the first Steps of our Team should be for everyone to
compile & use Amarok from GIT and then start to implement a Junior
Job/fix a Bug/add some small Feature as I think that this would be a
good starting Point for digging into the Amarok Codebase and start to
understand the Code :)

We are also looking for a "Mentor" who is already experienced with the
Amarok Codebase and can help us with technical Questions, but also with
defining exactly what Features we will implement and to watch a little
bit over our Progress ... someone from Europe would be preferrable :)

In October we will then look at the List of Features that was sent to us
and with the help of the Rest of the Community decide what we will
implement.
So if someone has additional Ideas for Features, please don't hestiate
to tell us, but keep in mind that they should be big enough to eat most
of the ~ 450 Hours [maybe we can implement 2 - 3 Features that fit
together, but most probably not much more because smaller Features
wouldn't fit in a Course "Software Engineering & Project Managment"].

List of Features we got till now (incl. some Ideas of our own):
- -) Remote playlists support (Ampache & last.fm Playlist)
- -) GPodder.net Podcast discovery and provider
- -) Extending the Automated Playlist Generator with support for
Last.fm/The Echo Nest recommendations
- -) Designing a new APG UI
- -) Batch Tag Editor and Auto-Tagging UI
- -) Add Support for multiple Artist/Album/Genre/... Tags see also:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119539
- -) Crossfading Support

So much about a small Update on our University Project, if you have any
Questions/Remarks/Suggestions, feel free to contact me:
