2.3.1 or 2.4

well, generally using the second version number digit to indicate this
is a feature release (which is the case here) is quite common. But this
would nearly imply to use the third one for bugfix/security releases.

If we want to push bugfix releases, at least for crashes and major bugs,
this would be a good way to go. Several people have already suggested
this to me.
