Phonon-VLC requires VLC 1.1 or greater ( I think... 1.0 might be
enough though ), which hasn't been released yet, so you will need to
build that from source.

It can be cloned from here: git://git.videolan.org/vlc.git
After that, you should be able to build and install Phonon-VLC like
any other Phonon backend. No specific recompile of Amarok is needed.
