string freeze for 2.1.1 and plans for post 2.1.1

Sorry for chiming in a bit late...

I honestly think that it makes sense to branch off 2.1.x, even if we
end up never needing it. Looking at the amount of awesome stuff that
is already set to go into 2.2, based on past experiences, I would not
be surprised to see the release date slip a few months. In this case
it makes sense to keep the option of releasing a few additional bugfix
releases open.

Also, since we are releasing 2.1.1 so close to 2.1.0, we do not really
have time to get much feedback from the community about the 2.1.0
series, and even less time to get it into 2.1.1, before basically
closing 2.1.x. I think that some nasty bugs will show up after 2.1.1
is released, simply because not that many people are suing 2.1.0 just
yet.
