Well, for one they are no Linux experts in any way. You can consider
them newbies in these matters. This means that our people working on
this particular project will have to handle everything for them,
including solving possible problems that could arise.

I'm not saying that's not doable, but it does present an extra hurdle
right now in an already very tight schedule.

But see, I'd like to stress that point 4) from my list isn't even the
most important here. What I'm much more concerned with is the
potential loss of contributors that I mentioned. I think that is a
real and tangible danger and could hurt us a lot.

And then I'd like you to consider that the longer we discuss this and
postpone an actual decision, the more useless the debate becomes. In
two weeks time, the problem will have "solved itself", but maybe not
the way we would prefer it: At that point contributors / users will
either have given up on Amarok SVN, or done the upgrade dance with KDE
4.2. So I'd like to urge you all to come to a conclusion in this
thread ASAP. I won't be crying if you should decide not to follow my
proposal, but I wouldn't find it a good outcome, for the reasons I
mentioned.

Again, I'd like to explain (maybe I didn't word it very well), that we
have the option of importing LibPlasma into Amarok (not much work),
and then we could _still_ decide if we want to keep it that way before
the actual 2.1 release. So you'd get the best of both worlds, IMHO.
