Precisely. one of the big problems was being unable to identify the
source of crashes. with more stable code we can be sure that the
packaged versions of mysql work. eg, apachelogger's ubuntu 5.0 mysql
packages seem to be fine, whereas previously i thought that they may
have been built incorrectly or mysql 5.0 was giving problems.
