Make Install Not Seeing New .so Until Reboot

I'm on Ubuntu 8.04 on KDE 4, and when I rebuild Amarok after a change
to the source, it rebuilds fine, but after `make install` and I try to
run Amarok, the changes I made don't register.  If I reboot, then run
Amarok, the changes show up.  Are there some temp files hidden
somewhere that I have to remove every time I rebuild Amarok?
