Engine cleanup--Should we punt GST?

Heya,

After discussion on irc today, I finally got to punt the nmm/mas
engines.  We are thinking about punting the gst10 engine as well, as
there is a well maintained phonon backend for gst.  Foreboy: I'd like
to hear your thoughts on that one as you are the maintainer.  It would
be nice to get engines down to helix/phonon/void/xine if at all
possibile, I am going to email the yauap maintainer next and see about
alternatives for it in 2.0.

So, Foreboy: any objections to just using the phonon gst10 backend?
I'll hold off on punting it until you get time to respond.
