I hadn't heard this, and saw the date, and kind of went into panic mode, since
last year we missed out on this deadline and didn't have an option. I didn't
think this to be a problem since last I knew we wanted to go for our own
project and I'd not heard anything to the contrary.

Is that actually a problem? Is this not a good year to have people helping us
out, what with the 2.0 transition and everything? Or were you wanting
to "save" our chance for another time?

If we're not accepted as our own project, is there any reason we can't apply
as mentors under KDE's umbrella, and have people apply there?

Another thing about being our own project is that the money that gets given to
the project itself could go into our fund instead of KDE's.

Regardless if for some reason we really want to go under KDE I can contact
them and ask to be withdrawn, so that we can have a chance another year.
