Installing PA (mer) on Nexus 7

I
​t seems all of the tutorials (including that one) have the same (or nearly
identical) instructions​.  I'm strongly suspecting it has to do with the
fact that I'm using the 2013 Nexus 7, but if anyone could confirm this,
that would be great.
