oh! one other thing: you can create wallpaper *packages* that include multiple 
screen resolutions. these are zip files with an organization like the 
following:

/home/aseigo/kdesrc/kde-wallpapers/Flores/
├── contents
│   ├── images
│   │   └── 1920x1278.jpg
│  │   └── 1280x1024.jpg
│   └── screenshot.png
└── metadata.desktop

the metadata.desktop file is a .desktop file that looks like:

[Desktop Entry]
Name=Auros
X-KDE-PluginInfo-Name=Auros
X-KDE-PluginInfo-Author=Davide Bettio
X-KDE-PluginInfo-Email=bettio at kde.org
X-KDE-PluginInfo-License=LGPLv3
