usually those things end up as local patches in obs.
in this case the behavior of qt in mer i think is fine since its use case is 
usually for fullscreen opaque windows, having an opaque paint event by default 
can slightly increase performance

now obs is rebuilding kde-workspace with kwin patched, so we'll see what the 
results are
