this seems related to all the changes have been in resource caching (that
caused the slowdown regressions last weeks too)
did you try with the last commit above in slc? using setpropoerty instead of
the old semi private api seems to fix things here (will port the rest using
that api too) i think in that case Resource notifies itself internally that a
property has changed, marking the cache as dirty
