I knew you'd  write this :)

The point here is that this needs a lot of testing that is done by more 
experienced users which will be able to restore the data if something goes 
wrong.

Testing by ordinary users is something that I'd like to avoid, unless it 
is clearly communicated that this feature might eat their pets :)

Bugs in data and security related stuff (IMO) need to be treated a bit 
differently than out normal bugs :)
