yeah, i know what you mean...
i don't think without shadows at all this graphics look good, the shading of 
the button surface+borders should have to be a tad different probably..

i think i'll try with a shadow that hasn't a gradient as opacity mask so looks 
more even and way smaller, so that would be not much more than a border
