It certainly seems like Intel is trying to find their way.
On the other hand, most of the Intel AppUp people I have met support
Plasma Active, at least to some degree. The size and nature of Intel's
business dictate that they pursue the top hardware manufacturers. But
Intel also has supported FOSS. The Berlin tablet give-away was an
attempt to bring FOSSfolks into the Intel camp. And it generated
interest among KDE for Plasma Active. This is small potatoes compared
to what might happen if there were a good OS with a large supporting
structure to compete with iOS and Android.
There are probably opportunities involving Intel that don't require
that KDE and Plasma Active rely on them.
