gles speed on meego

Hi all,

since some days on meego there is kde-workspace 4.8 built, now it (kindof) 
correctly starts again.

it is now using kwin with gles, but i suspect it's falling back to a software 
renderer somewhere, because is extremely slow, and with slow i mean several 
seconds to perform the panel open/close animation (painting in general of 
pretty much everything becomes noticeably slower than without compositing as 
well)

is there a way to discover what's happening, exactly what drivers is using, or 
where is falling back to software rendering?
