Contour Design Concept - Activity Switcher

How about presenting a "New activity" (good wording would still have to be 
found) in the activity wheel (maybe at position one)? When activaing it, it 
would create a new one. I think this would feel quite natural, like "Choose an 
existing activity or a new one".
