Actually the idea is a bit more
complete: the new user can use his/her personal page to write about
himself/herself in order to get introduced in the community; anyway the
idea is to use the personal page directly, once the user register for
the first time, to create new contents/notes (e.g.: a direct button is
given to the new user and pressing it he/she can start writing content
in the ve, maybe with few hints guiding his/her first editing
experience).

Anybody can use his/her own personal (user)
page to write his/her notes, but as an editor I believe that before
uploading your notes on the correct section you have to review and
integrate them: that's why we thought about the user page as the most
suitable place to take notes directly in mediawiki, for example during
your lessons, and only when you are satisfied about what you have
produced you can move these pages in the most suitable section in the
site.

Be careful: this idea doesn't prevent the possibility
from writing contents directly on the correct page (this can be done,
for example, if you already have some complete notes that you want to
upload), though is a perfect way to introduce editors to the visual
editor and the media wiki language and to allow more expert editors to
write directly in mw without using a .tex/.doc file that should be
converted into mw.

More or less this feature of the user
personal page is equivalent to the Template:WorkInProgress proposed by
Christian, but imho our idea has to be preferred since allows new users
to start their editing experience without having any particular
knowledge of templates.

Contents on the user personal page actually are not hidden from the rest of the community for two reasons:

Anybody would have the possibility of visiting your personal page and see what are you writing;

The
idea is to store incomplete/unreviewed notes here just because you are
not satisfied with their content, but once you are these pages are ready
to be moved to their section.

According to this
interpretation there is no limit in getting new contents (using Work in
progress template it would be the same) and new users are not prevented
from register themself and edit already existing pages (being these on
you personal page or on the correct section/argument).

On Fri, Mar 25, 2016 at 2:46 PM, M Bona <matteo9496@gmail.com> wrote:

Actually the idea is a bit more complete: the new user can use his/her personal page to write about himself/herself in order to get introduced in the community; anyway the idea is to use the personal page directly, once the user register for the first time, to create new contents/notes (e.g.: a direct button is given to the new user and pressing it he/she can start writing content in the ve, maybe with few hints guiding his/her first editing experience).

Anybody can use his/her own personal (user) page to write his/her notes, but as an editor I believe that before uploading your notes on the correct section you have to review and integrate them: that's why we thought about the user page as the most suitable place to take notes directly in mediawiki, for example during your lessons, and only when you are satisfied about what you have produced you can move these pages in the most suitable section in the site.

Be careful: this idea doesn't prevent the possibility from writing contents directly on the correct page (this can be done, for example, if you already have some complete notes that you want to upload), though is a perfect way to introduce editors to the visual editor and the media wiki language and to allow more expert editors to write directly in mw without using a .tex/.doc file that should be converted into mw.

More or less this feature of the user personal page is equivalent to the Template:WorkInProgress proposed by Christian, but imho our idea has to be preferred since allows new users to start their editing experience without having any particular knowledge of templates.

Contents on the user personal page actually are not hidden from the rest of the community for two reasons:

Anybody would have the possibility of visiting your personal page and see what are you writing;

The idea is to store incomplete/unreviewed notes here just because you are not satisfied with their content, but once you are these pages are ready to be moved to their section.

According to this interpretation there is no limit in getting new contents (using Work in progress template it would be the same) and new users are not prevented from register themself and edit already existing pages (being these on you personal page or on the correct section/argument).

On Fri, Mar 25, 2016 at 1:41 PM, Cristian Baldi <bld.cris.96@gmail.com> wrote:

I think it would be a nice idea to encourage the user to write about himself and introduce himself to the community on his personal page, in this way we allow him to try the editor, get himself familiar with the wiki environment and at the same time build some kind of personal connection.

We could also tell new user to start writing content on his personal page but I don't like it very much.
