            Bug ID: 477467
Summary: Digikam 8.1 Image Editor could not interpret a Nikon
Z9 NEF file but I am able to export to JPEG the full
size export at 5504 pixel (max length size of the NEF
                    file) to 100% uncompressed JPEG

SUMMARY
***
Attached are the 4 images of the Digikam 8.1.0 of where I installed Digikam in
my Ubuntu 22.04 LTS OS
(Digikam_Bug_0000001.png, Digikam_Bug_0000002.png, Digikam_Bug_0000003.png,
Digikam_Bug_0000004.png).
Also attached is the NEF file captured from my Nikon Z9 camera with latest
firmware of 4.1 from Nikon
USA (_DSC0126.NEF). The Digikam software was installed using the GUI interface
that detects all the
software installed and available software to install for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. I am
using a Lenovo P620
workstation running Ubuntu 22.04 LTS which was upgraded from Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.
All Ubuntu 22.04 LTS
updates are using only the Security updates and nothing else. I also have no
customization of the
Digikam 8.1.0 software installed.

Digikam is very useful to me because it is better than the Nikon NX-D and have
the same image
reproduction of Capture One Version 20 which I use for my other Pextax K-1 II
camera. I cannot use
the Image Editor and adjust the image to my preferred adjustments.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Import the attached NEF file (_DSC0126.NEF).
2. Open the NEF file using the "Image Editor" button.
3. "Image Editor" will display the message "Cannot decode RAW image
'_DSC0126.NEF'". I am using Adobe
RGB color space for all my NEF files in case I need to have Adobe RGB in
the future. Please see attached
    file "Digikam_Bug_0000005.png" image.
4. I am able to export the NEF file with no compression (100%) but I cannot
use the "Image Editor" to
make lighting, color adjustments to the NEF file. I only use a NEF file and
not even have any
in-camera JPEG file created. Also attached is that exported JPEG image
(_DSC0126.jpg)

OBSERVED RESULT
1. Please see attached image (Digikam_Bug_0000005.png)

EXPECTED RESULT
1. Please see attached image (Digikam_Bug_0000006.png) which is the image for
a Pextax K-1 which I
    downloaded from the Internet.
