Bug ID: 459570
Summary: Dragonplayer does not detect audio in certain videos;
seemingly random.
Classification: Applications
Product: dragonplayer
Version: 22.08.1
Platform: Archlinux
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
Assignee: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
Reporter: fake.name at posteo.net

Target Milestone: ---
SUMMARY
***
As the title states, dragon isn't detecting any audio in certain video files.
This is file type independent, and I haven't been able to observe a meaningful
pattern w.r.t. which files simply fail to have their audio registered. Command
line execution of functioning and dysfunctioning files of the same type reveal
no difference and flag no warnings or errors. This portends to be a failure to
detect any audio whatsoever, since "Audio Channels" doesn't become accessible,
and my plasma sound widget claims no applications are playing any audio.
I have observed this with both .mkv and .avi files. I have verified that said
files play correctly on a variety of different players, including bare mpv,
vlc, and haruna.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open some particular video with dragon.
2. No sound plays.
OBSERVED RESULT
No sound plays on some files where sound is expected, and no hints to why are
given.
EXPECTED RESULT
Every file with any sound at all will play said sound or throw an error if it
isn't possible to
SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux: Arch 251, zen kernel 5.19.10
KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0
Qt Version: 5.15.6
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The smallest file I have which generates this error is still 20 Mb in size,
being a 1 minute clip from a movie. How would you like it uploaded?
