@Moritz Thank you. I guess uid=970 is sddm in your system? If so we have
exactly the same issue then.

Setting XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP=KDE in /etc/environment (or $HOME/.pam_environment
if you use pam_env) did remediate this issue. And anyone who's using display
scaling is probably gonna need those *_SCALE ones as well.
