Sorry, forgot to mention, in a meantime I have switched from Debian 11 Stable
to Debian 11 Testing. 
I can see now, that whatever that initial issue was, it's now gone for my
original user as well.

But I think it will be very precious for everyone else, who might be dealing
with the same strange behavior to know if it can be affected by some setting in
config file
