Never mind. Turns out it was an issue with another panel. I have a two-monitor
setup, and I made two identical panels, one for each monitor. The App Launcher
on primary monitor is the one that activates when pressing Meta/Super, but the
keyboard search strokes were being grabbed by the secondary monitor's app
launcher instead. Removing the app launcher widget from secondary monitor and
adding it back fixed the issue. I guess that could also be a bug, but the
reason for this bug is resolved.
