working now!

For anyone's future reference:
Right click on digital-clock in the applications bar, and select "configure
digital clock". Click on the calendar tab on the left-hand side, and then
enable 'PIM events Plugin'.

A new tab will then appear called 'PIM events Plugin', where you can select the
calendar to sync too.
