The keyboard response was still not normal. On typing "compiz -replace", the
same message appeared, again, several times.

The only solution was to log out of KDE and return to KDM for normal keyboard
usage. I have since rebooted.

This is twice I have rebooted due to this issue in as many days since the
update to the system from the Arch repos.
