This bug was fixed in September 2010.  See bug 221232. It even has the phrase
"odd number" in the title. The fixes would have been released with KDE 4.5.2 in
October 2010 and in KDE 4.6.

You must have a very old copy of KDE or KMahjongg. Please update it.  KDE 4.12
is current.
