I have found the problem and a way to solve it. First, let me say that it was
not a KDE issue and this bug report can be closed. I thought it may have been
since I had only tested KDE apps at the time I first posted this. After
installing gnome and having the same issues I did some more digging.

After installing the qt-mobility update I tried launching apps from the
terminal to see what error messages may come up. The ones that would not launch
all gave the same error:

Error while loading shared libraries: libproj.so.0 cannot open shared object
file: No such file or directory

I then enter yum provides libproj.so.0 and found the missing package:
proj-4.8.0-5.fc20.x86_64 (since I'm using 64bit Fedora). After installing the
package, everything works fine. It does some weird that it was not included as
a dependency for the qt-mobility, since it does seem necessary for it to work.
Does anyone think this is worth in a bug downstream @ bugzilla.redhat.com?
