I get exactly the same thing: just visit system settings / application
appearance / fonts and the fonts all change to be spindly and angular -
basically not very nice.

I am using a live (USB stick) version of Kubuntu 14.04 and the bug happens from
a completely clean state.

(I want to change to Kubuntu/KDE, but this is a deal-breaker for me if it can't
be fixed.)
