Your KDE version 4.8.4 is too old and no longer maintained by KDE developers.
Please update to latest stable (KDE 4.10.5) or previous stable version (KDE
4.9.5).

You might also try recently released version 4.11.1, but KDE 4.11 is still in
stabilization phase.

If your distribution still offers support for the old KDE version, please
report this issue to the bug tracker of the distribution.
