I will report the "no sound" issue separately.

But apparently the phonon module is also responsible for the hanging: all
modules enabled except phonon gives no hanging or defuncting kded4, but on
enabling the phononserver module again, the kded4 is defuncted, and hanging
reappears, after the above described workflow within kmix.
