            Bug ID: 307214
          Severity: wishlist
           Version: 4.9.0
          Priority: NOR
          Assignee: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
Summary: screen edges module: can't disable arranging in
quarters when dragging window to the screen side
    Classification: Unclassified
                OS: Linux
          Reporter: oldie at anderszeit.de
          Hardware: Other
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
         Component: general
           Product: systemsettings

Please excuse that I don't know which module this is: I recently activated the
option to arrange windows by dragging them to the side of the screen. This is
very handy when I want to compare two files. But alas it is very hard to get
the desired effect of two windows side by side, you have to hit an exact point
on the screen side what I cannot do that precise. Therefore I end up most of
the time with tiny windows a quarter the size of the screen. It would be very
much easier if I could just drag the window to the screenside without the need
to position it to get a window size of half the screen. Therefore I beg you to
add a third option to the relevant module in systemsettings so that the user
cannot only choose between maximize and tile but between maximize, divide and
tile. If the user would choose to only enable the half size windows (divide) it
shouldn't be relevant to which position on the screen size the user drags the
window.

In the KDE SC version I used before it was possible to drag the window just a
little to the left/right after grabbing the title bar to get it half screen
size. Now I have to drag the windows longer ways (which also means hold the
mouse button longer) and look for the point to drag to - all three things much
more difficult for me than just grab the title bar and move it "blindly" an
inch roughly straight into one direction.

Please forgive an old man to have such picky wishes but it really would make
the handling of that feature much better for people like me (bad eyes, slight
tremor, limited mobility and strengh of the hands - all that fine things you'll
probably get sooner or later too).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Enable arranging windows by dragging them to the screen edges.
2. Grab window titlebar at the end and drag it shortest way straight to the
side of the screen.
3. The window gets tiny, quarter of the screen, instead of half the screen.

Expected Results:
The behaviour that dragging windows into corners and upper screen edges gives
quarterly tiled windows should be optional. I can disable the fullscreen
feature why not the tile feature - so that only half screen window dragging is
left?
