The error is in my own configuration of CUPS.

In /etc/cups/client.conf, I configured cups to use a server: "ServerName
foo.bar.baz"

This will cause all CUPS clients to communicate with foo.bar.baz directly via
the network, which is really slow. Even this simple program found on CUPS'
official site (http://cups.org/documentation.php/doc-1.6/api-overview.html)
takes one minute to run.

That problem is not in Qt nor Kde.

Remove the line "ServerName foo.bar.baz" and the printer dialog no longer
freeze the whole program.
