Hi! I'm one of the maintainers of KDE in Debian. While we longtime KDE users
know that we need the loopback interface up to run KDE, it is not uncommon to
receive bugs stating that KDE is too slow, normally turning that the lo
interface is down.
It would be really *awesome* if KDE checked this upon start and showed the user
a message warning her that the lo interface is down.
