I just experienced this problem, and KDE was unresponsive/freezing a lot (still
working but very slow). But GTK+ applications were doing fine.

Has it seems a full / or /tmp or ~/.kde4 really impacts KDE desktop and
applications, there should be a warning/notification telling the user that such
problem is happening.
