Tried also with Kubuntu 11.10 i386, same bad behavior with ext3. The problem is
especially visible with lancelota launcher: boot into KDE, click on lancelot
launcher and see the different responsiveness on ext3 and ext4.
I really hope this bug report could first or last catch some attention from
some KDE dev...
