Summary: KDM in Dual screen configuration - Need to move the
mouse to type into the graphical login dialog
           Product: kde
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: dualhead
        AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: kde-bugs at jme.de

Screenshot of my display layout

Version: unspecified (using KDE 4.6.2)
OS: Linux

Manually forwarded from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdebase-workspace/+bug/688282
Problem still resided in Kubuntu 11.04

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

Using Kubuntu 10.10

My primary display is the build-in display of the notebook.
The secondary display is an external display, plugged by a displayport cable.
The primary display is on right hand side, the secondary display on the left
hand side.
-> See also the attached screenshot to understand my screen layout.

After poweron, the position of the mousepointer stays initially on the left
display, which is the secondary one.
To type in my name and password, I have to move the mouse to the primary
display, what is a littles uncomfortable (as far as a pointing device is
available).

My video card is NVidia and I have configured dual head as Twin-View (to have
composing).

In Kubuntu 9.04, 9.10 and 10.04 there was no need to move the mouse.
But I cannot remember the initially position of the mousepointer after poweron.

I'll also attach my xorg.conf

Joe.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Just have the above described display configuration.
Power on the system and try to enter your login credentials.

Actual Results:
No keyboard strokes are going to the login dialog until the mouse is moved to
the right screen.

Expected Results:
The keyboard strokes should going to the login dialog, regardless were the
mouse pointer has been placed (this was the behaviour until Kunbuntu 10.04).

Version of the proprietary Nvidia graphic driver is actually 270.41.06.
(Nouvou unfortunally not working because the big display is connected via
Display Port).
