I'm having the same problem under Kubuntu 11.10 with KDE 4.7.2.
Every other reboot my font settings are being reset. Sometimes my font settings
survive a reboot, sometimes they don't. This is utterly annoying.

File permissions on ~/.fonts.conf are fine, btw.
