Summary: Shutdown should disable various actions (such as crash
                    reports and hibernating)
           Product: kde
           Version: 4.7
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: unassigned-bugs at kde.org
        ReportedBy: stefan.freyr at gmail.com

Version: 4.7 (using KDE 4.7.2)
OS: Linux

I have a laptop which frequently (as in always) experiences crashes when I shut
down the computer. As if the crashes aren't annoying enough, the crash report
window that pops up actually stops the shutdown process. I have to close the
bug report window manually for the computer to continue shutting down. There
may well be a way for me to disable these crash reports but I actually want
them, just not this one which happens every time I shut down my computer.

Another problem is that after I choose shutdown, I often close my laptope
immediately. This seems to result in it going into hibernation mode before it
has actually finished the shutdown process. So when I open my laptop again,
it's actually hibernated but when I wake it up it continues with the shutdown
process so I have to start it up again.

I propose that shutdown should set some global flag immediately after it's been
selected. If this flag is set, KDE should not try to go into
hibernation/suspension nor should it display any blocking windows, or for that
matter do anything that cause the shutdown process to be suspended.

In my opinion, this should be the default behavior. In some very rare cases,
there may be a reason for halting the shutdown process but that should then
have to be explicitly stated by the programmer.

A nice implementation of this would be to log any "disabled" events and then
display them on the next boot up. Then I would see a display telling me that
"Application X crashed during your last shutdown" or something like that.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Not really applicable since this is more of a feature request.

However, on a laptop set to hibernate when it's closed, you can press
Ctrl+Alt+Delete and choose shutdown, then immediately close the laptop screen
and it should hibernate before finishing the shutdown process.

Expected Results:
After choosing shutdown, I should not see any crash results that come up and
the laptop should not hibernate if I close it immediately after choosing
shutdown.
